UNUM Project that combines Tap Dance and Original Electronic Live Music, was created in 2015 under the direction of Estefanía Porqueras, internationally recognized dancer and choreographer.
In 2016, thanks to the collaboration of different artists and combining Estefanía’s work with the original music of Guilliam Sons, recognized composer and musician from Barcelona, the company presents the project’s first piece -SIGHTS- (Turin Tap Festival, December 2016).
The originality of company's repertoire resides in the unique composition of all their elements: musically, where their directors create and elaborate each of the notes of their songs, as on rhythms and movement's quality, more contemporaries and visuales, that think over her creator. Also giving space to the expressiveness of the pieces, the project focuses on the merger between emotion, concept and movement, establishing the canvas on which to express and communicate.
The motivation of the project grows from the concern of bringing this art form back on the scene and breaking with the stereotypes of the tap dance of the 1920s to show its full potential and open it to new audiences thanks to the contribution of Electronic Music. The new language that combines the traditional roots of the American Rhythm Tap, the movement of contemporary inspiration (Modern Jazz) and the ability of this fusion to project stories and emotions makes the project a unique combination. Electronic Music, Tap Dance, Movement and Expressiveness are the key words of this proposal.
After presenting different works for events in the city and the official premier in Italy, the company presente a reviewed version at Stockholm Tap Festival (Sweden, April 2017), one of the most acknowledged festivals in the field. Later, in the city of Barcelona, UNUM Project presents the second adaptation of the pice, enlarging it to 50 min: -SIGHTS- Extended (May 2019).
In 2020, adding dramaturgy to the original mix, they created Sumario de Memorias y Cicatrices, premiering in Almeria Teatre -October2020-.
