In July 2020, during the uncertainty of the global pandemic, Estefanía Porqueras and Víctor Álvaro, director of Golem'S Theatre, came together to discuss how to reactivate the cultural sector within Barcelona's Tap Dance community. From that conversation emerged the idea of creating a permanent programme dedicated exclusively to tap dance—a shared home where the city's artistic activity could come together under one roof.
Inspired by this vision, the first season launched in October 2020 with the premiere of Sumario de Memorias y Cicatrices by La última vela, alongside other performances and the regular Barcelona Tap Jams, organised by Laia Molins.
Over the following five seasons, the project presented local and international tap dance productions, hosted the annual Tap Dance Days organised by the Tot Pel Claqué Association, and became the home of Barcelona's regular live music Tap Jams. More than a performance programme, it created a unique meeting point where artists, audiences, and the wider tap dance community could gather, fostering artistic exchange, audience development, and the continued growth of the discipline in Barcelona.
After five seasons, however, the project proved unsustainable for different reasons and came to an end. We are deeply grateful to every artist, collaborator, audience member, and supporter who helped make this initiative possible. Their commitment contributed to an extraordinary chapter in Barcelona's tap dance history.
Below you will find a record of all the artists and projects that were part of this journey.
